Our reason for doing this is simple:  We often see the results of success. What we don’t see is the journey to get there.  Our platform gives voice to the challenges Asian women leaders face and most importantly, how their culture and upbringing contributed to the legacy and impact they have achieved today.

Their stories inspire.

Their stories give hope.

Their stories open doors for more Asian female leaders.

Our desire is for it to spur a movement that creates greater belonging among the growing community of Asian female leaders in America.

Shveta E. Pillai

As a second generation Indian American and native Texan, my story speaks to an upbringing that embraced a blend of both pride in our Indian heritage and a strong desire for American opportunity and security.

I was blessed with parents who, even through hard times, found fulfillment in life. It’s this same outlook which has helped me find success in my career. In the last 22 years, I have worked across businesses from small startups to global organizations in real estate, insurance, pharmaceuticals, retail, and government to develop a passion and expertise in leadership and organizational development. Today, I advise executives and senior leaders on developing practices and behaviors that empower them and their teams to lead with more agility and purpose. In turn, these "students" have inspired me to launch my own entrepreneurial endeavors and community-focused projects.

It’s Identity Unveiled that brings together my dual cultural pride. I hope to bring forth the unique stories of Asian female pioneers that achieved success in America...and I hope it inspires in others what my parents did in me—having strength in culture and community to breed success.

As a second generation Korean American and native Texan, my story started with modest means and immigrant parents. Sharing a one bedroom apartment with my brothers, my parents juggled 5 jobs at any time. My father achieved the American Dream and I witnessed the world of entrepreneurial resilience.

Since a young age, I was coached about  entrepreneurship with searing memories of successful traits. The most humbling trait was witnessed when landslide business losses were unwaveringly met with tenacity and grit. A constant rhythm of fearlessly paving forward, armed with persistence and grit, crafted a growth mindset and the foundation for success.

My passion is to empower Asian American women. Identity Unveiled serves a media platform to showcase iconic women that have sown incredible leadership and earned significant stripes as a trailblazer.
