<image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Diane Yoo As a second generation Korean American and native Texan, my story started with modest means and immigrant parents. Sharing a one bedroom apartment with my brothers, my parents juggled 5 jobs at any time. My father achieved the American Dream and I witnessed the world of entrepreneurial resilience. Since a young age, I was coached about entrepreneurship with searing memories of successful traits. The most humbling trait was witnessed when landslide business losses were unwaveringly met with tenacity and grit. A constant rhythm of fearlessly paving forward, armed with persistence and grit, crafted a growth mindset and the foundation for success. My passion is to empower Asian American women. Identity Unveiled serves a media platform to showcase iconic women that have sown incredible leadership and earned significant stripes as a trailblazer.</image:caption>

<image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Shveta E. Pillai As a second generation Indian American and native Texan, my story speaks to an upbringing that embraced a blend of both pride in our Indian heritage and a strong desire for American opportunity and security. I was blessed with parents who, even through hard times, found fulfillment in life. It’s this same outlook which has helped me find success in my career. In the last 22 years, I have worked across businesses from small startups to global organizations in real estate, insurance, pharmaceuticals, retail, and government to develop a passion and expertise in leadership and organizational development. Today, I advise executives and senior leaders on developing practices and behaviors that empower them and their teams to lead with more agility and purpose. In turn, these "students" have inspired me to launch my own entrepreneurial endeavors and community-focused projects. It’s Identity Unveiled that brings together my dual cultural pride. I hope to bring forth the unique stories of Asian female pioneers that achieved success in America...and I hope it inspires in others what my parents did in me—having strength in culture and community to breed success.</image:caption>

<image:title>Asian women leaders: the first Pakistani-american tv reporter</image:title>
<image:caption>Joining us today is Kiran Khalid. It was her on-air debut as a reporter in 1996 for a CBS affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas that made her the first Pakistani-American woman in broadcast news. She is a veteran journalist with more than 15 years of newsroom experience having worked across affiliates of every major network—ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX— in markets across the U.S. and reporting on events around the globe. Today Kiran is the VP/Editorial & Media Lead for the Energy sector team at Edelman, the world's largest public relations firm. We chose Kiran as our first guest on this podcast inspired not only by her achievements in journalism being a Pakistani American woman, but also by the somewhat movie biopic experiences she had along the way. We couldn’t share all of the experiences that would make for a great 2.5 hour movie, but what you will be privy to is the wit, grit and the fierceness of her journey and resilience to become the first Pakistani American woman in broadcast news.</image:caption>

Today Serafina is the VP of Operations at Houston Exponential, a non-profit dedicated to accelerating the development of Houston’s innovation economy by fostering a robust ecosystem that supports high-growth, high-impact startups. We chose Serafina as our guest on this podcast inspired not only by her achievements in the startup ecosystem being an Indian American woman, but also by the somewhat unorthodox experiences she had along the way.</image:caption>

<image:title>Dr. Karen Eng Helps Raise Fund for AAPI Businesses and Community through AAP Strong</image:title>
<image:caption>The Asian community has faced an immense backlash since the onset of the pandemic. We invited Dr. Karen Eng, Board Chair of National ACE, to speak about the work of their campaign #AAPIStrong. Through #AAPIStrong, National ACE is raising funds and providing programming to help AAPI small business owners across the country survive shutdowns from the pandemic, AAPI bias, harassment, and violence. Karen is also an optometrist and CEO of a global engineering company. Since the inception of the Illinois College of Optometry 144 years ago, Karen became their first female and minority Chair of the Board of Trustees. She also reached a notable milestone with the Export Import Bank of the United States, that after 80 years, she became the first Asian American to sit on their Advisory Committee.</image:caption>
